MINISINK COMPRESSOR STATION
OPEN HOUSE - AUGUST 23, 2011

On Tuesday, August 23 Millennium held an informational open house at the Minisink Town Hall from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The purpose of the event was to provide area residents an opportunity to come and learn details of the Minisink Compressor Station project first-hand from Millennium company officials and contractors working on the project. The open house was advertised with half-page advertisements in the Times Herald Record newspaper, through fliers posted at town hall, local post offices and other bulletin boards and was announced during a previous town meeting. Residents in the area around the project were also notified via an invitation letter and the event was highlighted on the Millennium website.

Over 120 people visited the open house during the 3.5 hours. Many voiced support for the potential jobs and economic activity it will create. Neighbors had questions and concerns regarding noise, visual and emissions impacts. In the end, it was an engaged and informative session with vital information being exchanged in two-way dialogue. The company now has a much better understanding of community priorities and concerns and the community has a much better understanding of exactly what the project is, and isn’t.
